Liberty Family Outreach
Liberty Family Outreached is housed in Warren, in South-East Michigan. This nonprofit was founded by a local pastor from Warren, when the economy started to take a decline.
Katie Miller is the coordinator who works closely with other churches, the Ambassador Bridge Company, Forgotten Harvest, Mayor Jim Fouts, Senator Steve Biedia, and many other sponsors. They work hard to feed the community and meet other needs.
Every Monday, Liberty Family Outreach partners with Forgotten Harvest to feed between 400 and 450 families. The people who receive food are the ones who make “too much” money to apply for a bridge card, retirees who are struggling to make ends meet after medical expenses, and many who still don’t have jobs. Besides feeding families, Liberty Family Outreach has a foster care prevention to help families keep their children from going into to foster care. The leading rate for children going into foster care in South East Michigan is not abuse, drugs, or alcohol, but it is poverty. Parents are losing their children because they do not have the money to make ends meet. Liberty Family Outreach helps find beds, couches or whatever the family needs to keep their children. Everything that they do for the community is free for everyone.
Throughout the year, Liberty Family Outreach hosts fundraisers to raise funds for the community throughout the year and to put on a big event where families can receive health assessments, dental examines, backpacks with school supplies, and boxes of groceries for over 10,000 people in South East Michigan. This year Liberty Family Outreach put on a Benefit Auction at the Warren City Hall raising $15,000 in one night. They want to be the hands and feet in the community that brings hope back into the lives that lost it in the first place.
